This Veterans Day, the Battleship IOWA Museum will host a free Veterans Day Film Festival from 10am – 4pm. The first-ever film festival will debut the Emmy Award winning documentary, The Last Signal and WWI documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old, with a live Q&A by Emmy Award-winning director Kyle Olson.

Throughout the day, enjoy FREE family-friendly activities on the fantail of the ship including mural painting and Vicky the Dog story time with author Carole Hershman (Vicky was the ship’s mascot once upon a time). Food & drink will also be available for purchase from Michael Caccavalla Catering.

Ship tours will be offered throughout the day at regular admission rates. All active, reserve and retired military will receive FREE self-guided tour admission. Tours start at 10:00am and the last tour is at 4:00pm.

Schedule of Events:

10:00am – 5:00pm — Ship Tours of the Battleship IOWA (visit our website for tours and rates)

11:00am – 1:15pm — Screening of WWI documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old

1:00pm – 2:00pm — Vicky the Dog story time with author Carole Hershman; books will be available for purchase

1:30pm – 2:00pm — Screening of WWII documentary, The Last Signal

2:30pm – 3:00pm — Screening of WWII documentary, The Last Signal

3:15pm – 4:00pm — Q&A with Emmy Award winning director Kyle Olson

Film screenings and Q&A will be held on the Third Deck of the ship. Please wear flat, soft-soled shoes as you will need to climb two short ladders. An elevator lift is available for those guests with mobility issues.
