San Diego Zoo
The World Famous San Diego Zoo is home to over 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing more than 650 species and subspecies. Not only that, but the San Diego Zoo also has a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. Get acquainted with a variety of animals, from the King of the Jungle to some of the biggest cats! Be bold and check out the reptiles, fish, and creepy-crawly insects!
You’ll see all your classic favorites, like the Monkey Trails, Polar Bear Plunge, Scripps Aviary, Elephant Odyssey, Tiger River, and also the popular “Early Morning with Pandas” tour. All animals live in an environment remarkably similar to their native habitat. One of the best ways to enjoy the Zoo is on their 35- minute narrated tour. The tour is on a double-decker bus and covers about 70 percent of the Zoo. The zoo has an excellent planner for your day at the park.
JUNGLE BELLS
It’s time for Jungle Bells! Later hours are filled with musical performances, entertainers, and animal encounters. New this year is Aurora, an exciting visual and sound experience that weaves 3-D projections, music, and light into a spectacular performance. ‘Tis the Season to celebrate!
“CELEBRATION OF LIGHTS” EXPERIENCE
Every 30 minutes, their toog tree, adorned with hundreds of bulbs, doesn’t just light up, it seems to come to life! Bright bits of light blink and dazzle as they light up the night, “dancing” to the sounds of the season.
NORTHERN FRONTIER’S HOLIDAY FOREST
Follow this festive forest pathway among specially decorated, lighted trees designed to delight. Peek at polar bears, arctic foxes, reindeer, and more.
SANTA’S FACTORY
Santa will be waiting to welcome young guests. Even if they’ve already sent him their wish list or had a chat at another location, a visit with the jolly ol’ elf himself is a special opportunity for sweet memories.
GINGERBREAD LANDING
This is the spot for Zoo character meet-and-greets, strolling musicians, snacks, and Santa.
December 13-23 and December 25 to January 5, 2020. Check out all the activities, food and more here.
