Pick Your Own Strawberries

Get out with the kids and pick your own strawberries at the Carlsbad Strawberry Company.

The Carlsbad Strawberry Company is a family run grower of fruits and vegetables.  Now in its third generation, they have been farming in this area since 1948.  The strawberry field has been part of the Carlsbad landscape long before Interstate 5 was built.

The strawberries are packaged commercially and sold in the “Carlsbad” label and sold to markets by Aviara Farms, Inc.

The Carlsbad field is located at the corner of Cannon Road and Paseo del Morte, just east of Interstate 5 at the Cannon Road exit in Carlsbad.

Although strawberries are usually considered seasonal, it is a year-round business for Carlsbad Strawberry Company, employing at least 20 people.

The harvest usually takes place between January and July. The strawberry plants they grow usually slow the flowering when the nights are less than 10 hours long, so they begin trimming/pruning the plants in July.  If successful, and there is mild weather, they can coax the fields to produce through the next few months.
