The Hollywood Bowl
The Hollywood Bowl is the largest natural amphitheatre in the United States and officially opened on July 11, 1922. The “bowl” refers to the shape of the concave hillside the amphitheater is carved into. The bowl is owned by the County of Los Angeles and is the home of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the host of hundreds of musical events each year.
Visit the Museum which features the genuine Hollywood history connected to the Hollywood Bowl. Artifacts and collections within the museum include fascinating programs, posters, books, films, videos, photographs, promotional materials, postcards, and many other forms of memorabilia. The museum collects programs, recordings, records, and ephemera pertaining to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The museum also features the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, honoring incredible and well-respected musicians that are remembered throughout the history of the Hollywood Bowl.

We were in September 2022 at the Pentatonix Concert. Never been to the Hollywood Bowl before. I really liked the... acoustics, large screens with excellent images. They rented pillows to sit on. You could also take food with you, but we didn't think about it, so we had to queue and pay double the price for tacos and beer. For the evening, you definitely need to take a blanket or jacket. Parking was booked in advance. We arrived 2 hours before the start, walked there in the museum. Definitely recommend this placeread more

The Hollywood Bowl is an awesome venue for concerts. We went to see The Who there this month and it was the best... concert I have ever been to. The sound and natural acoustics we're incredible. Iconic southern California venue that has been around for almost a hundred years. It loses a star ONLY because the... parking is such a nightmare. Shuttle busses are an option from cities such as Torrance and Lakewood, so consider that as an alternative. Food and beverage prices are a bit crazy, but that's to be expected. The sound here is incredible. Any show you see here will be worth your while.read more

We hadn’t gone back to Hollywood Bowl since before the pandemic. It pretty much looked the same but I don’t remember... the box seats with tables. But this time was my first time sitting there. Haha. We parked at the hotel and took a shuttle that dropped us off right at the bowl. It was way easier than sitting in your car waiting for the person behind you to get there. The flow to get past security was fast and organized. They had a pretty good menu for food and drinks, but most were sold out when we went to order from our server. Who was attentive and very awesome! It was a beautiful, perfect night to sit outside and watch Dave Matthews Band! A sisters night out I won’t forget!read more

My favorite activity in the Summer is to go to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Packing dinner and wine in a picnic... basket creates a scene of romantic evening with music. I guess we’ve been watching too many Hollywood movies featuring the Hollywood Bowl.My wife and I go to Hollywood Bowl for concert at least 3 times a year during the summer. Many Angelenos share the similar affinity with this famous landmark in Los Angeles since 1922. We have all been enjoying live music from this historic venue as part of life in Southern California.The best time to go is during July 4th with live music and spectacular fire work. It’s quite enjoyable with that evening. People would just dance and celebrate independence day.It’s the tradition that concert goers would bring their own food and drinks for the concert. But some concerts don’t allow you to bring alcohols and soft drinks. you can only buy drinks inside from the Bowl vendors.Getting to the Bowl is easy too. you can either drive and park your car at the Bowl, take a chartered bus from many locations throughout LA or drive to a closest designate parking lots and then take a shuttle to the Bowl. Since we have a chartered bus station that’s very close to our home in Arcadia, we normally take the bus to Hollywood Bowl. it’s the most convenient way.read more

Love love love the Hollywood Bowl! We arrived around 6pm. Had drinks, food and snacks before the main event at 8 pm. ... It was pure positive energy. We were lucky had a friend allowed us to park and walked from their home to the Bowl.So no traffic parking hassle for us.Show up early for your event time. Your allowed beverages, snacks, food. No hard liquor, your bags will be checked and security detectors at entrance.Check into shuttle service if you're not familiar with the parking hassle.There is a 15 to 20 minute walk to seating area , however there are escalators and moving walkway to help you. The sound was great the performance had everyone standing and cheering enjoying the evening event.read more

My first experience was awesome, I had a great time. My girlfriend and I took a picnic to see Tchaikovsky's Spectacular... with Fireworks and it was absolutely amazing. The Hollywood Bowl was a blast to experience as well - it felt like a theme park but for theater. Plenty of food options and places to sit and eat. Bathrooms are around and it's all wheelchair accessible. Plenty of drinks being served. Highly recommend!read more

Jazz Night, great, Wednesday's in summer. Picnic around the bowl or bring it to your seats. Alcohol allowed. Boxes are... very nice if you can get one and a little costly but worth it.Another option is the cheap seats, maybe $20, a bit far back but the music is great anywhere you sit. Bring binoculars or just watch on one of the four huge screens. With the new cell phones you can even get some pretty good pictures.read more

This place is the best experience! You can bring your own food and drinks, backpacks and bags, and just enjoy the vibe!... It is a Must-Do experience if you visit Los Angeles or even live there! The only negative, is that it is HUGE and the further back you sit, the harder it is to see. I strongly suggest you don’t sit further back from Terrace seating. The performers become ants at that point. We saw Boyz II Men. Honestly, a lot of fans were upset because they played a bunch of covers rather than the songs that made THEM popular—the songs we all loved! I felt that I did not get what I expected nor what I paid for. I give that show 2.5 out of 5 stars. Don’t go see them, unless you have money to throw away. I’m a big fan, but playing other artist’s songs rather than the well-loved hits we all grew up on, is sad. They said they were going to “Try something different” and it was not well received. Worst of all, they performed for barely an hour.read more

This is a great concert venue though a little more upscale than some places... Bring a picnic !Seriously, for a place... with almost the same capacity as most stadiums, the Hollywood Bowl has hugely better sound quality and a much better vibe.I've been in the Nosh Pit (pun intended), and I've been in the nosebleed seats and the sound was perfect in both.Highly recommended. I'm not joking about the picnic, but bring a bit extra to share with your neighbors.read more

For some reason, even though I've lived in LA for 50 years, I didn't start going regularly to the bowl until about 10... years ago. It's never too late. It takes a little bit of effort to get there, but once you're there it's worth it. All kinds of entertainment is offered and there are always sheep seats higher up. With a new video screens and upgraded sound system everybody has a good time.read more

We had an amazing time at the bowl! There are no bad seats and the landscape surrounding the bowl adds an element of... magic to your musical experience. A few tips though:1. Avoid driving there and certainly don't park there! The traffic is crazy, jams up really easy and parking is hell. There are Hollywood bowl shuttles all over LA that will take you to the Bowl and back for under 10$ in a bus. The other option is to ride share, it takes a little longer but the parking attendants are efficient and get the job done.2. If you're on a budget bring your own food! We spent $30+ on a cheeseburger, fries, and drink. They totally allow it but be ready to have the cooler/basket/bag searched prior to entrance. We saw a whole family with 2 rows just pulling out bottled of wine, trays of lox, some nana's giant bowl of pasta salad and they were having a good time!3. Absolutely bring a cushion or rent one as soon as you can they do run out. Those benches are hard and if your short like me your legs will dangle uncomfortably.4. Try to minimize what you bring because space is truly limited and it will need to be searched upon arrival.I hope this helps and you enjoy your trip to the Hollywood bowl!read more

The Hollywood Bowl is magic.I've been going there since 1970 and always look forward to their Summer Season, I enjoy... every minute of it!Thanks to the dynamic staff at the box office, the parking lot to the seating area and the restrooms who always greet me with a smile.On a foot note, the restrooms at the Bowl are in the best 10 list of public restrooms in the USA!read more

What an iconic location carved out of the mountain. The Bowl has great acoustics and all the seats are good.Make sure... to wear flat shoes as the hill climb can be a workout,where possible take the escalators. The Bowl also gives a good brew of the HOLLYWOOD sign as well.I recommend this venue.read more

I love the Hollywood bowl, it's a great venue to see music, the improvements in the acoustics are amazing, the setting... is serene. The downside is the parking situation is the most horrendous of any venue that there is in LA. The stacked parking is ridiculous. Taking a shuttle bus is the only way to do it, but you have to remember to reserve early because those book up too. It would be a 5 star if the parking situation was improvedread more

What a flippin' ripoff!! I've lived in the LA area for 25 years, so of course I've heard about the Hollywood Bowl!! I... mean, I don't live under a rock!! So, I finally decided to load up the car and give it a whirl! Shoes, check. Glove, check. Ball, check!! I was primed and ready to rock n roll, baby!! So I make the 90 minute drive in traffic, and then the parking at this place is an absolute nightmare!! Horrendous!! After all that, guess what? No bowling alley ANYWHERE!! Currently I'm screening personal injury attorneys, because mentally I feel as though I've been harassed and abused!! Most of them say I should clear $50,000,000 easily!! I did stay and watch the concert. Pretty cool location and acoustics for that. Maybe they should advertise as a concert venue instead of a bowling alley!! What I said about the parking, seriously... no joke. It sucks!read more

Fantastic venue!Garden Boxes have tables that transform from dinner service to box seating for the performance; very... clever.Men's restroom had a long line while women's moved very quickly due to the open stall light system they have in place.Pay for the valet parking, or plan on an hours-long wait to leave after an event.read more

My experience here was absolutely incredible, the staff was very pleasant and were willing to help you find your seat... if you needed it. I really liked how spacious the walking areas of the bowl are and I also love the historic feel to the venue. The lights that light up the stage and bowl are beautiful and make the experience even more enjoyable. My family and I came to see Black Panther in Concert and we had a great time! We are looking forward to our next concert/event here.One tip for the bowl: fix your website!! It’s awfulAside from that I loved coming to the Hollywood Bowl 🙂read more

We had a chance to see John Williams conduct at the famous Hollywood Bowl, and it was epic. Parking seemed a little... chaotic for it being our first time, and expensive $22, but we got there really early. There is a shuttle for way less $7 pre, and $12 day of, so it might be worth it to visit the website and check that out. You can also pay beforehand and save a few bucks. Be ready for plenty of walking, with some areas that are pretty steep. Food was expensive, as you would expect, and not all that great for the price. However, food and drinks are allowed in LA Phil-presented events. Check on the website for exact details, but depending on the event, you can come prepared for a picnic. The group next to us had it all, even some to share. Also, remember that this is outdoor seating, so check the weather and be prepared. You might want to bring a blanket or jacket even on a summer night. We purchased seat cushions for $1, and I would highly recommend doing that. Again, it was a great night, and the memories made are well worth making it happen.read more

Absolutely lovely venue! We sat pretty close to the way back, and we could literally hear PERFECTLY! Sure the orchestra... was teeny tiny from so far away, but that did not affect the performance at ALL. Don't worry about your seat, you'll have a great time either way. Three things, they have food (you can bring your own), parking is kind of a disaster, and BRING A SEAT CUSHION.read more

Hollywood Bowl has a great selection of wines and beers from all over the world. The ambiance is intimate with couches... spread throughout the place and candles at every table. This is a great place for a date or happy hour with coworkers.On weekends they have a great happy hour before 6pm, including 50% off wine bottle that are $70 or more.read more

So nice to be out again and the Bowl did not disappoint. Christina Aguilera and the Philharmonic we're outstanding. We... like that we can bring food and drink. Next time we will go earlier and take advantage of the patio area to enjoy our picnic. The seats don't provide adequate space to dine comfortably.read more
