Oceanside Adventures is a luxury Whale Watching company located in front of the historic Light House in Oceanside Harbor. Each year whales pass by Oceanside on their way to Baja to breed. Wyland Custom Graphics for Oceanside Adventures Luxury Catamaran
Renowned environmental artist WYLAND recently finished designing a custom wrap for the Oceanside Adventures Luxury Catamaran. Wyland, a champion for the ocean environment depicts a mother and her baby humpback whale with a bottlenose dolphin in the kelp forest, sprinkled with Garibaldi, the official state marine fish of California. Not only does the boat look sharp, it has just been repowered with two new Suzuki 250 outboard motors by Cal-Kona Marine, Inc. in Oceanside, CA. This will allow more speed which gives a wider area for their 2 hours Whale & Dolphin Cruises.

When I go on these tours, I don’t expect to see much. There’s no way they can guarantee finding anything (kind of like... going fishing.). I just try to enjoy the ride. But this tour was AMAZING. We saw a blue whale (what?!) and a huge pod of dolphins (about 250) that swam with the boat. My 10 and 12 year old boys loved it! The staff was so nice and knowledgeable. The highlight of our trip and worth every penny!read more

We chartered the entire boat for an At Sea Celebration of Life and we could not have been more pleased. The captain and... crew took excellent care of us, the boat was clean and we were able to see dolphins and other wildlife which made the experience extra special. I suspect we will want to do this again for other family members who pass. I highly recommend Oceanside Adventures.read more

This was the top 3 coolest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Seeing the wildlife over a cold beer and being educated on... the wildlife and ocean by the staff made for a magical day. Great fun and crew. We saw dolphins that actually came close right under the boat! …and a grey whale ? One Whale wasn’t... too exciting bc you only see it’s tail flopping and had to wait many minutes for it to resurface but overall a pleasant day on the water. A must-do when visiting or with friends in town. Remember to layer layer! It can get chilly on the open ocean ? (I have better photos but need to download them)read more

Booked my trip a week in advance as I was going on vacation. The morning of the trip, it was extremely foggy. I called... at 7am and left a message requesting to postpone until 2 days later. The young lady on the phone informed me that her boss denied my request because they were still going out.I went on the trip and didn’t see a thing! Not even a bird. Nature does it’s own thing which is part of life, however, my complaint is about the lack of courtesy from Oceanside Adventures. They should have honored the request to postpone for the beautiful day that was ahead (2 days later). They gave us our tickets back to return another day. Spending 2 hrs on that boast twice was not an option. Nope. None of us went back. It was torture the first time in the fog! I will not book with them again when I’m back in town 🙁read more

Took the whale watching tour on 3/18/22. We saw no whales only dolphins. What was the most disappointing was the fact... that when asked directly the crew indicated they hadn't located any whales for their other trips as well. The experience could have been saved if the crew had told some jokes, educated us on whale life, provided cool fish facts. Anything would have been appreciated other than staring out over a blank empty ocean. When asked about the type of whales we might see one of the crew picked up a chart and reluctantly pointed to a whale but made it clear he was annoyed. After no interaction, it was made known that gratuities are appreciated. I always tip but did not tip this lack luster crew. The vessel itself was clean and seaworthy. We were told we would receive a return ticket if we did not see whales but we were only given a discount coupon. I hope others have a better experience than we did.read more

Efficient and friendly crew. Chris and T-Con were great. We saw a super pod of dolphins (over 300) and 3 whales doing... their whale mating thing. We were careful to keep our distance so we didn't stress the animals. Our trip ended with seeing a huge sunfish letting birds land on it to eat parasites. Fun trip, so much to see (on this day), highly recommend!read more

Wonderful experience, we would definitely go out with this crew again. The captain and crew were knowledgeable and... friendly. We saw grey whales and a massive pod of dolphins that swam under our boat. The captain stopped on the way back to the marina to pick up Mylar balloons out of the ocean and everyone cheered. Absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life, and one where I felt I was living a “never ending” nightmare. The... tour was suppose to be 2 hours but ended up being 2.5. The waters were terribly rough and the captain should have turned the boat around instead of continuing to push on. Within ten minutes of the journey entering open waters, the waves were so big and choppy the ship was bouncing, rocking and slamming all over the place. At first some didn’t mind but it’s turned south pretty quickly. The unfortunate part was there were many families on the ship including young children under the age of four and one mother with a little baby. That should have been enough for the captain to realize he better turn around. Instead there were children crying and scared for their life. People were flying all over the place and getting soaking wet from the high waters. I mentioned to one of the employees that I wanted to turn back because at this point I was feeling terrified and he mentioned that it was up to the captain to make that decision. As the journey continued on, the waves became rougher to the point half the people on the ship were throwing up violently(myself included.) Never in a million years would I ever think signing up for something that is suppose to be a fun whale watching attraction turn into a living nightmare. I don’t ever think I’ll ever have the capacity to step on to a ship again.read more

In the most treacherous ocean waves that we hit about 5 minutes in to the cruise, the captain should have turned back... and have given the families and kids that needed to get off the opportunity to do so. Instead, they kept pushing on and 20 out of the 30 people on the boat were throwing up the entire time. To top it all, I saw 0 animals. Can’t say much for the customer service either. I understand that this level of waves is not common but the choices were not well made today and while I can’t blame the crew for us not seeing any animals, I am giving these guys a 1 star for the approach they took.read more

My family had a great time on this boat. The first day we didn’t see anything but they gave us our tickets back and we... used them the next day. This is a great beach. The rock piers are fun to walk along. It is well patrolled by lifeguards. There are clean... restrooms nearby in the harbor and showers on the beach. There is a large, free parking lot east of the harbor which always has parking available.read more

The Whale/Dolphin watch tour was a great experience! We saw a pod of around 700-800 dolphins, which was so cool! It was... a little disappointing that we did not see any Whales or any other wildlife though. The crew was very friendly and the boat was a very comfortable ride.read more

We had a booking with them for over a month to spread my husband's ashes. Less than 24 hours prior to our appointment... they canceled on us after flying in to do this as my late husband's last wishes. They offered no type of solution to this and thankfully we found a man with a sail boat willing to help accommodate us don't give this place your money as they cannot follow threw on their word. I really enjoyed the cruise, though we were not sexy enough to attract any animals (only two dolphin fins and two sea... lion tails from afar). Obviously spring is a much better time to visit than summer if you want close encounter with those animals. Price is $50 per person, which is acceptable for a 2hr joyful tour on the north pacific ocean. Make sure you don’t have sea sickness before boarding!read more

We took the dolphin & whale watching cruise 6/21/21. We all had a great time. We saw three different types of dolphins... and saw sea lions. But unfortunately no whales. The captain was friendly and knowledgeable and even kept us out a little longer to interact with a large pod of dolphins we encountered on the way back. I would definitely recommend this activity. And at $44/person it’s very affordable.read more

We saw 3 blue whales! Unbelievable. We also went through a pod of dolphins. Sea lions and feeding pelicans were also... part of the experience. I was very lucky to take the 5pm tour where a blue whale family was seen—the first sighting of the season. Have a long sleeve shirt or some layers to keep warm. Be ready to cruise over uneven waves—take some medication for motion sickness if you think you’ll need it. Unforgettable, incredible experience. I’m so glad I decided to take the tour!read more

We went out two times on our recent trip to Oceanside.The first time, the ocean was calm, the air warm, and the skies... clear. We caught a glimpse of a sun fish - but that was all. You cannot guarantee what animals will do!!! However, the trip itself was a lovely respite after a long road trip to California. It was lovely to be on the Ocean.We went out again on Wednesday. The ocean was considered "high seas"! This means the ocean was choppy!! I thought that part was actually fun. Got some ocean spray! We found a pod of 300 dolphins - they were everywhere! So wonderful. I think we came across the same sun fish too!!!The boat was clean. The crew was knowledgeable. I will definitely go again when visiting Oceanside!read more

Wow, I was seriously amazed by my experience I had on Oceanside adventures. First we saw whales and what seemed to be... hundreds of dolphins. Shane and Chris were extremely informative giving plenty of information of all of the animals we saw. Just went on an ocean adventure yesterday late afternoon with my girls. We did not see any whales or dolphins but sadly... wild life does not time their lives for our entertainment. Nevertheless, the crew was friendly and personable and the time out in the ocean was priceless. We had a total blast and will be using the free tickets we received (they are provided if no whales/dolphins are seen) next time we make our way to Oceanside. I’ve been living in Oceanside for over 5 years now and I’ve enjoyed my experiences while whale-watching with Oceanside... Adventures.I’ve been out on the ocean on 3 separate trips and each one was a pleasure.On my very first trip, I was fortunate enough to see dolphins, seals and some whales.This was such an awesome adventure being able to witness such massively majestic creatures breach in their own habitat.The crew know their craft and have good experience with sea creatures and I like all the fun facts and knowledge gained on these trips.The boat ride alone is peaceful and it is calming just being in the open water being able to look back on Oceanside.If soloing, it makes for great self-reflection time and reconnecting with your thoughts.Kids will love it just because SEA ANIMALS!!Definitely a fantastic family outing!Pros:The vessel is spacious and safe.The crew is friendly and knowledgeable.The prices are affordable and if you check Groupon, you’ll probably find a discount.There’s beverages & snacks for sale.Cons:Not guaranteed to see whales on every trip.Although you will most likely see dolphins and if you’re lucky see a playful pod!One thing that would be cool is if passengers were incentivize to take return trips if they didn’t see any whales on their voyage and could have an automatic 10% on their next booking.Overall, I recommend taking a ride out with Oceanside Adventures and enjoying the sea and don’t forget to keep your camera battery charged full ?read more

Outstanding whale watch cruise. Covid-19 safe, fabulous crew on board! Ask for Carla Mitroff to book your cruise as... she is awesome. Sunny skies, glassy water conditions saw 300 long-beak common dolphins, plus 20-30 inshore bottlenose, scattered bait balls, witnessed sea lion slapping a fish on water to eat its food. Even though no Gray Whales we'll be back again to our "New Favorite Whale Watching Company" Again!!! A 5 Star company?read more

Went out for my daughter's birthday..... she was so ecstatic to see dolphins so close! ? The quality time we got... together, alone, is a forever imbedded memory for both of us! ?They took us to a great spot approximately 6-10 miles off the coast.These guys know what they're doing when it comes to the ocean.... We never felt afraid of falling over, they had great hospitality, are very personable & professional guys..... & I was at to enjoy a beer! ? ?It looked to me as if the dolphins were "playing with the bubbles from the boat" so I can bet these guys had plenty of experience being out on the waters and where to go to show their clients the beauty they see constantly. I found it quite peaceful & relaxing to not be anywhere near land, sit back & soak up the rays, & get a breath of fresh saltwater air! ?{I think due to covid there was only approx 15 passengers & masks were required} Space to see was not an issue so it made the experience that much more exciting to REALLY ENJOY the sights.We'll definitely be going again! My 21 year old son and I went out for the 2 hour excursion yesterday. I love being on the water no matter what, so I... enjoyed the time much more than on a crowded beach. We didn’t see a whale and only saw only a handful of dolphins. Still, it was nice to see those dolphins and again, something you don’t see from the crowded beach. It was a budget friendly, family friendly outing and I think if you keep your expectations low in terms of what sea life you come across, you will find it an enjoyable way to spend a couple hours! The guys were professional, and Chris was a great crew hand/bartender... friendly and knowledgeable. I think it’s important to support these businesses during COVID. Btw, the boat was very clean and they followed all protocols.read more

We had the most amazing time on this whale watching tour! From check-in until disembarking the boat, the staff was... outstanding and such a pleasure to sail with. The boat was spotless, the crew was fun and informative, the weather was perfect, the seas weren't too choppy, and we saw tons of dolphins. The captain really went out of his way to navigate us to the best location possible to look for marine life. I sincerely cannot wait to go on this tour again and highly recommend checking them out! We have been on whale watching tours before and learned to lower our expectation of seeing wild sea life to being able... to spot just a few sea lions and a couple of dolphins. That is what we set out to have for this tour. Our 6-year-old son likes boats and was excited to just be on a boat in an open ocean. Never did we expect to see not one, but *two* blue whales. Sure, that was a luck of a draw, but the crew's reaction and subsequent service was unexpected. First, one would never suspect that a boat like that could go THAT fast. Why were we going fast? Because the Captain (or "boat driver guy" as he introduced himself) was attempting to get the best possible view of the blue whales w/o disturbing or annoying the mammals. He was knowledgeable about the breathing cycle and behaviors of the whales and each time they dove, he was trying to rush to a place where he expected them to come up for air. He was right 100% of the time. It also appeared that the board was equipped with a sonar device and he was able to detect the depth and the animals under the boat - that is a huge positive difference compared to other whale watching tours. Being able to see what's going on under the boat is essential to spotting wild life, I think. To top that off, both the Captain and the First Mate where so stocked to see the whales, they were willing to forgo their break to continue chasing the pair. Prior to committing to a longer trip, Captain did ask us if there was any objections. There were none and we were able to find, take pictures and videos of the whales couple more times. This was outstanding!!!Crew qas very processional and friendly. They were also welcoming. What stood out was that they were passionate about studying the wild sea life behavior and habits and what seemed more so than the passengers of the vessel. Goes w/o saying, the vessel (including the bathroom) was clean and we observed the crew dis-infecting all surfaces before we embarked. This was also a plus a Covid-19 era. We highly recommend Oceanside Adventures for your next whale watching tour. While it is not guaranteed that whales can be seen, however, what is guaranteed that if one (or two) are spotted, the crew will make every accommodation to ensure the best possible viewing opportunity of the citing.read more

Saw thousands of dolphins and witnessed a dolphin super pod. Dolphins in every direction, it was really amazing and... beautiful. The staff was nice and helpful, especially after I got motion sickness halfway through. Gave me remedies to help and continuously made sure I was ok.read more

Went on a quick weekend trip with my kids to Oceanside and was looking into things to do and found this whale and... dolphin watching. Bought the tickets online for the next days trip. Only 20 tickets are sold per trip due to the Covid19 rules. We did had to keep our masks on while on board and they made us put on some hand sanitizer before going on board. Which was great to see them following the guidelines. We didn’t see any whales but did see sea lions and many pods of dolphins. Definitely recommend and we would definitely do this again. Awesome staff and very clean boat. FYI they do have a bathroom on board which is a must when going out with kids .read more

That was really fun. Crew was awesome and the captain had a bunch of animal facts to get you even more involved. We... had a chance at a Minke whale viewing but it didn't resurface. But we did sail with a pod of 200+ common dolphins. Done on time for lunch. Can't wait to go back again early next year to have a chance at a grey whale sighting.read more

We had such a beautiful experience! It was a bit chilly because a majority of the boat is shaded, but the crew was nice... and played great music on our way out to sea. Although we didn't see any whales, the boat ride alone was worth it! And honestly seeing 500+ dolphins was definetly worth the money! I highly recommend!read more
