Get Your Boogie On
To native San Diegans, there’s a big difference between a boogie board and a body board. A boogie board is used for fun. Kids — little and big — catch breaking waves and ride boogie boards into shore. A body board is essentially the same piece of equipment, but used by professional boarders.
For the not-so-serious boarders, head down to WindanSea in La Jolla for some sweet waves. For smaller rides, head to Tourmaline Surfing Park, a little farther south in the Pacific Beach neighborhood. Make sure to head to the surfing zone instead of the swimming zone.
Renting a Boogie Board is easy these days. Most shacks that rent surf boards or other water gear will have boards to rent at affordable prices. Check out La Jolla Kayak in La Jolla Shores or Cheap Rentals in Mission Beach for your Boogie Board needs. Who knows? Some day you may take boogie boarding to the next level.
